Believe it or not, my students are slowly coming around.

Yes! I am back in the classroom this year.

I taught for about 5 years and decided to take a break from teaching in 2021. I was no longer able to give my best after the onset of the Pandemic.

Teaching is my joy.

It breaks my heart when I have a student who is adamant on feeling that reading is boring.

There are so many reasons this student has these feelings. The student may have chosen a book they weren’t interested in or possibly not at their reading level.

Some students aren’t at their best when their peers know they enjoy reading. I plan to shift that mindset. I plan to change that thought process in my class.

Reading will be the norm.

Exploring the school’s Media Center will be the norm. I have seen in several middle and secondary schools where the media center is not normally used by the students.

It is one of the best locations where students should be welcomed. My goal will be to take my students minimally twice a month to explore and choose a book to borrow.
